Telephone Counseling

It is difficult for some people to attend in-office sessions due to geographical proximity, busy schedules and other life factors. As a result, I do offer counseling by phone for individuals who otherwise cannot attend an in-office session. I have the right however to assess whether this type of service is appropriate on a person by person basis. Appointments are made in advance and fees will be collected by Visa, MasterCard, and Debit Card or paid in advance.

Custody and Visitation Evaluations
*Registered Custody Evaluator (RCE) through the Professional Academy of Custody Evaluators (PACE).
 

A court order is required. An evaluation report is submitted to the Superior Court and Attorney’s regarding what is in the “best-interest” of the children. Aspects of the evaluation include, but are not limited to:
  1. Face to Face Interviews
  2. Home visits
  3. Parent-Child Observations
  4. Review of Court Records
  5. Contact with References, Employers, Schools, Daycare

Parenting Coordination (PC): "An alternative to running back to court".

A (PC) is a child-centered professional who helps conflicted co-parents make decisions in their children's best interests. A PC usually functions with the court's authority for a specific period (a renewable one year agreement is common). The PC is available on an as-needed basis to investigate a specific conflicted question, to meet with each parent (with or without their partners), the child(ren) and/or with the co-parents in order to mediate an outcome. In those instances in which mediation fails, the PC is empowered to make a decision for the co-parents.

Parenting Coordinators are typically useful when co-parents who share legal decision-making authority cannot resolve an upcoming major life decision for the child(ren). Examples include:


Parenting Coordinators typically are not empowered to change existing terms of parenting rights and responsibilities (custody) and will only address matters of religion under very specific conditions
.

Qualifications & Responsibilities of the Parenting Coordinator 
Qualifications include training and experience in the following different disciplines: 1) family systems theory, 2) adult psychotherapy, 3) developmental psychology, 4) divorce recovery, 5) children's adjustment issues specific to divorce, 6) conflict resolution, 7) mediation techniques, 8) communication theory, 9) legal aspects of divorce, and 10) domestic violence 11) co-parenting techniques.
The role of the parent coordinator is to assist both parents and any significant others resolve conflict in a manner that is beneficial to their child(ren). The parenting coordinator has full discretion regarding program implementation including but not limited to:

1.       Modification of time sharing plans (visitation). (It is understood that the parent coordinator cannot change overall time sharing or the legal custody status of the children).
2.       Recommend Counseling and provide names of therapists for any parties involved in the evaluation process. (PC will request insurance provider lists and identify therapists who have skills in the area of referral need and who are willing to work cooperatively with the PC/and Court System).
3.       Request Psychological Evaluations. (PC will request insurance provider lists and identify evaluators who have skills in the area of referral need and who are willing to work cooperatively with the PC/and Court System.
4.      
Recommend Temporary Supervised Visitation and provide referral sources.
 
Legal Consultations
Available by retainer for consultation and testimony for legal firms in cases involving custody, visitation and child abuse issues.

Payment & Insurance

Payment is expected at or prior to the time of service. This may be made by cash, check, debit, Visa or MasterCard.
 
I currently accept insurance companies under Deaconess Health Plans (DHP), United Behavioral Heath (UBH)/United Health Care , Anthem and Welborn Health Plans. Please contact me about other accepting other insurance companuies. The co-pay is due at the time of service. If your insurance should refuse payment then you are responsible for the balance.
 

Contact me or check with your provider directory to determine whether I am accepted as a provider for your insurance.
 
I also provide an Insurance Reimbursement Form for clients wishing to submit their own claims with other companies.

Custody & Visitation Evaluations

T
he ability to predict t
he final fee is difficult because each evaluation is unique and may require varying amounts of time spent on travel, direct contacts, phone calls, depositions, review of legal documents, research, report writing and court testimony. Each hour of work is billed at $150 hr. A retainer will be requested and must be paid before the evaluation begins. The following is only an esmate.

***Insurance will not pay for this service.



Evaluation Fees

$2000 retainer: The parties or courts may determine what proportion is to be paid by each party prior to the evaluation beginning. (This is for 2 adults and 1 child that reside within Vanderburgh County). *Does not include Court fees , depositions or review of extensive legal documents.
 
**Each additional child 5 years old or older increases the retainer by $200 per child.


**Driving Time for home visits outside Vanderburgh County may result in a higher retainer.


Each parent will be requested to:
  1. Fill out parenting questionnaires
  2. Attend 2-3 individual appointments
  3. Bring children to 2-3 individual appointments
  4. Allow the evaluator to provide a minimum of 1 in-home visit in which all parties which reside in the home are present. (If a parent resides outside a 2 hour total diving distance then they may request a home visit by a licensed therapist in their area and pay for this service separately).
  5.  Each parent agrees to sign release of information forms for any collateral contacts requested by the evaluator.
 **Retainers must be maintained throughout the course of the evalaution. Failure to do so will result in the evaluation being placed on hold.

 
Court Fees
$500 retainer: For 1/2 day Vanderburgh or Warrick County Court hearing. $1000 retainer for a full day hearing in Vanderburgh or Warrick County. Additional retainer fees are required outside of these counties. When possible, please provide a subpoena for 8am-12pm or 1pm to 5pm to reduce waiting costs for the client. Retainers for court are due 1 week prior to the court hearing.The evaluation report will be released when the court retainer is paid. Any outstanding court costs are due 1 week following the court appearnace.The evaluation report is only released to the attorneys and courts..


 
Parenting Coordination Fees

 A $200 legal and collateral consultation retainer is required by each party.  This  will also include an initial report requested by either attorney.

A $200 phone/email retainer is required by each party.

***Retainers must be maintained or services will be placed on hold.

Each party will pay $100 year to the PC to be registered with FAMILYWIZARD.COM. This is a yearly fee and is nonrefundable. Each party will be instructed on how this will be utilized as part of the PC process.

        
Individual and joint session fees are $150 hour
and due at the time of service. If both sets of parties are present then the cost is still $150 hour and they may split the fee unless prior court orders have been determined. Insurance companies will not pay for this service.

 
A court order which identifies how contacts with the child(ren) are to paid is requested. The party not bringing the child to the appointment will need to have a credit card on file or pay for services in advance.


Court Fees

Consultation Fees
After review of the case with the attorney/law firm, a retainer will be established which projects the initial costs of document review, research, direct contact with attorney’s/clients, phone contacts, report writing, travel and court time. Additonal retainers will be requested as needed.

Seminar Fees

Fees are established based on number of CEU hours and travel expenses. Please contact me by email or phone for further information.

Report writing & Court Expenses

Fees are charged for requests to provide reports or appear in court regarding counseling contact or treatment. Each will be charged at $150 hour and include record review, court travel /waiting time/testimony.
